I spent two wonderful years in India.ĭuring my fifteen-year teaching career, I have been a professor at various Italian and foreign universities, teaching principally Sanskrit, Indian Studies, Hinduism, Buddhism, Zen, History of Indian Law, Human Rights and the History of Asia. My teacher and supervisor, and my beloved guru, was the pandit Nityanand Sharma, who specialized in Dharma (Hindu law) and poetry, and was president of PGDAV College. I won a Fellowship from the Cultural Exchange Program between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of India, as Research Affiliate at the University of Delhi. She won the national competition for admission to the post-doc Master in Computer Science (Rome la Sapienza) a post-doc Master's in History (University for Foreigners of Perugia) and then she graduated at the Harvard Law School (1994-1996).Ī bit of my life now. philosophical text in Sanskrit, never before translated. After graduating in Sanskrit (Doctor, 110/110) from the University of Rome La Sapienza with pupils of Tucci, she published her first book, The Spandasaṃdoha of Kṣemarāja, a critical edition and translation of the 12th cent.

She is the editor of the International Journal of Tantric Studies and the Journal of South Asia Women Studies, and former professor at the universities of Delhi, Perugia, Harvard, Macerata, and Turin. Her book L'esploratore del Duce received the special prize of the national 49th Acqui History Award and received a special recognition by the readers' panel. Enrica Garzilli is the author of the first official biography of Giuseppe Tucci, the famed Italian scholar, explorer and spokesperson of Fascism in Asia.
